Alvani Tunes presents ZAV’s second album: “Afro-Jazz Fusion A.K.A. El Negrotismo Ilustrado,” which is the winning submission of Peru’s Ministry of Culture Economic Stimuli project. In this work, the groups leader, bassist, vocalist and composer, Julio Zavala puts forth new ways of merging Peruvian with jazz and pop. In Zavala’s own words, “I consider this work to be the most satisfactory for me in terms of the quality we achieved and ideas we expressed. It faithfully represents where we want to go with Peruvian music, the means we have to express it and the renewal we consider necessary for the public to observe, in a contemporary way, the possibilities of their own root sounds.” In "Afro-Jazz Fusion"; Zavala reveals the outcome of more than 10 years of exploration of the possibilities of the fusion of Peruvian music with jazz, pop, and fun. This mash up manages to spark a tempo in the ear and the foot simultaneously.
