Banda La Costeña De Ramón López Alvarado is a Sinaloan group formed in
Mazatlán, Sinaloa in 1950. They are known as "The Queen of the Pacific" and "The one who has
no
mother "(As of 2010). It is one of the most acclaimed bands in Mexico for having a
extensive trajectory of more than 50 years.
Ramón López Alvarado was born in Siqueros, Sinaloa on July 14, 1928 and at the age of nine
age he learned to play the clarinet, later at fourteen he was already the director of a
band. He was known in life as "The Lord and Master of the Bands". The band starts in
Mazatlán, Sinaloa by idea of López Alvarado in 1950 when some bands
they were beginning their first steps in music. Originally López's grouping was a
orchestra but decided to switch to band music and this is how it has currently continued
his musical institution.
