“Caribbean Express” is the most recent production of San Miguel Perez. It includes a collection of Cuban genres that range from “son tradicional,” “campesino” and “habanero,” “guaguanco”, “nueva trova”, “guaracha”, “salsa”, “bolero” and “songo.” San Miguel, known as “El Tresero Moderno” (The Modern “Tres”’ Player) is considered one of the best “tres” and guitar players in Cuba and around the world. The “tres”, is a six string Cuban instrument. Its sound has become a defining character of the Cuban “son.”
