José Colángelo, born on September 24, 1940, in Buenos Aires,
Argentina, is a pianist, composer, and orchestra conductor who has
established himself as one of the most prominent figures in contemporary
tango.
With a career spanning more than six decades, Colángelo has left an
indelible mark on Argentine music, standing out both for his
virtuosity at the piano and for his ability to innovate within the genre
without losing the essence of traditional tango.
From a young age, Colángelo showed exceptional musical talent. He studied
piano at the National Conservatory and soon entered the world of
tango, becoming the pianist for Aníbal Troilo’s orchestra in 1963,
an experience that shaped his style and put him in contact with the great
exponents of the genre.
In 1971, he founded his own orchestra, where he was able to give free rein
to his
creativity. His music is characterized by a remarkable combination of

In 2024, José Colángelo recorded the album "Colángelo... Tango" for Alvani Tunes,
reaffirming his place as an undisputed master of the genre. This exquisite work
features outstanding musicians such as Julio Pane on bandoneon, Franco Luciani on
harmonica, and
Pablo Motta on double bass. Recorded in Buenos Aires, Argentina, between June and July
2024, the album blends tradition and modernity through original compositions that
capture the essence of tango with impeccable execution. Each piece, composed by
Colángelo, revitalizes the genre with freshness and depth, offering a unique
experience for tango lovers.
