Rafael Manjarrez was born in La Jagua del Pilar, in the department of La Guajira, and from a
young age, he has shown an
innate talent for composing vallenato songs. His compositions have been performed by many of
the most important artists
and groups in Colombian vallenato, such as Binomio de Oro, Jorge Oñate, Los Betos, Diomedes
Díaz, Los Hermanos Zuleta,
Iván Villazón, among others.
Rafa was also the host of the programs *"Estelares del Vallenato"* and *"Estrellas
Vallenatas"* on Telecaribe, which further connected him with his audience. His style is
characterized by capturing in his lyrics everyday life, the traditions of the towns, and
deep emotions, often with a nostalgic and poetic perspective.
A multiple-time winner of vallenato music festivals, including the Vallenato Festival in
1986 with the song "Ausencia Sentimental", Rafa has made a significant impact on vallenato
folklore. Recently, he released a new musical work as a singer, titled "Una Ocasión
Especial", featuring Vallenato King Beto Villa, performing both his own compositions and
those of other great authors of the genre.
Rafa Manjarrez remains a prominent figure in vallenato music, capturing in his songs the
stories, joys, and nostalgia of the people, with a simplicity and authenticity that have
made him beloved by many.
Rafael Manjarrez is part of the Alvani Tunes catalog, and we are very proud to have an
artist of his caliber. His music, authentic and filled with stories of vallenato folklore,
represents a valuable cultural heritage of Colombia. Each of his compositions reflects the
essence of vallenato, a genre that bridges generations and keeps the traditions of our towns
alive.
